Paper bag carrying checks

A simple check with your contents in mind.

Before shipment, we can load a bag with products based on your expected carrying weight, then lift and gently shake it for a basic carrying check.

Practical checks

What the check involves

A white ribbon-handle shopping paper bag containing test weights on a platform scale.

Load the bag

We start with the products and expected weight you tell us about, including how they sit inside the bag.

Lift and gently shake

We lift the loaded bag by its handles and give it a gentle shake to see how it holds together.

Look at handles and base

We look for loose handle connections, tearing around the grip area, or opening at the seams and bottom.

A useful detail

A bottom insert helps spread the weight.

For shopping paper bags, we usually add a bottom insert to help spread the product weight more evenly across the base.

The insert supports the base. The paper, handles and overall construction still need to suit what goes inside.

A few details help us get started.

This basic pre-shipment check uses your expected contents and weight. It is not a certified load rating.
